The Infernalist’s story… It’s ambitious. Your in-game character starts to regain consciousness – just as the game begins. That in itself was a journey for which you just caught the glimpses of the final stages, as you are floating around in search of your body… or A body. Now the reason why you are doing that or how you got in that state of existence in the first place will continue to be a mystery as you begin the search for your identity and memories. Because, you see, the thing is… you don’t really remember anything. Nothing about yourself, of course, but also how to walk, and how to breathe even. Luckily there’s a stranger right there with you that can help you out with at least some of your basic body functions, but as you’ll notice… she doesn’t remember much about herself either. So inevitably you begin your journey in the game, and progress through the rest of the storyline, which I don’t want to spoil… You’ll have questions, which we’ll be more than happy to answer as your adventure progresses… But what I can still share is this… you wake up in a forest, pretty much after having an outer body experience, with no memories whatsoever… and there is this stranger next to you trying to reach out to you… talking to you. But you don’t hear her with your ears… you hear her in your mind. And then, maybe you don’t have your memories, but you still have your instincts… perhaps some of them got restored by the stranger… Because as you open your eyes, and start getting some awareness of where you are… it doesn’t make you want to relax. We’re going to discuss more about the game environment in the next episode, but suffice to say… it doesn’t feel like a holiday destination. Everything is telling you to get out of there as soon as possible. However, it’s not because of any immediate threat. There is no bear to suddenly jump at you… no hunter-gatherer tribes to pose any threat… in fact… as you look around you start noticing there is no life around the place at all… no animals… no people… no insects. Plants are still there… The place is not barren. But… you’re in a difficult situation. It’s just you and a stranger. Nobody to give you directions… nobody to talk to… but her. Can you trust her? Can SHE trust you? How will you find out? Because what we’re doing in The Infernalist is not just hand out information. You might not even solve the mystery in the first episode of the game. What I can promise you though, is that you’re going to enjoy every step of the journey. We’re committed to not making it boring… or use too many cliches. We’ll reveal more in the episodes to come.
